BMR Calculator
Read the full BMR calculator guide (Mifflin-St Jeor explained)
Calculate your BMR and estimate how many calories your body needs each day. Enter your age, gender, height, weight, and activity level to get a quick result.
Quick answer — Mifflin-St Jeor BMR
Example (woman, 30 years, 165 cm, 70 kg): BMR ≈ 10×70 + 6.25×165 − 5×30 − 161 ≈ 1,411 kcal/day at rest. Use the form below for your numbers.

Guide: BMR Calculator
What it does
Approximates calories your body may burn at rest per day based on anthropometrics and sex, using the Mifflin–St Jeor equation.
How to use it
Fill in age, height, weight, and sex, then calculate. The result is an estimate in kcal/day at rest.
Formula
Men: BMR = 10×weight(kg) + 6.25×height(cm) − 5×age + 5. Women: 10×W + 6.25×H − 5×age − 161.
Example
A 30-year-old, 175 cm, 70 kg male → ~1,665 kcal/day BMR (rounded), before activity.
FAQs
Is BMR the same as my calorie target?
No. Total daily energy needs add activity (TDEE). BMR is only the resting component.
Why might my real metabolism differ?
Equations are averages. Medications, thyroid, lean mass, and genetics can shift actual needs.
Which units does this calculator expect?
Metric inputs as labeled in the form (kg, cm, years).
What is the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for women?
BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age − 161.
What is the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for men?
BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age + 5.
